Happy New Year.
A big thank you to all who attended the Advent evening and made it such a success. I hope you all had a great holiday. We returned today after our Christmas Festivities and will be meeting through until Easter.
A letter with up and coming dates for this sessions activities will be out in due course. Please remind yourselves of the dates for our Camps and we will be confirming the date for the Sponsored Walk in March.
Four companies, totalling around 25 lads, descended on Gleadless this evening for the Battalion table tennis competition. The competition was split into two age groups and trophies were awarded to each winner of the groups, with consolation prizes for the runner-ups and losing semi-finalists.
Juniors made Advent Rings this evening. They learnt about what the four candles represent: Mary, God’s people, the prophets and John the Baptist.
On Christmas Day, a white candle for Jesus is placed in the centre.
Advent Sunday is 28th November even though everybody’s calendars don’t start until 1st December on Thursday.
Over the last four weeks the Anchor Boys have been looking at Native American Indians.
We have made Tomahawks, Teepees, Head Dresses, and are currently in the process of building Totem Poles.
Please note that we will not be meeting on Friday 4th November 2011 due to the possibility that a lot of members will be at bonfire/fireworks parties.

Anchors on Friday were making spiders webs. Thankfully the spiders didn’t turn up!!
